TO BOOK: Please contact Rebecca on 07929 185 057, firstname.lastname@example.org, https://www.rebeccajamesyoga.co.uk/ The 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme is designed to empower people to take control of their own health, reduce stress and improve wellbeing. The course consists of a weekly 2-hour group class where individuals are guided by an experienced teacher in meditation, movement and reflective practices. Participants are also given home practices that build upon the techniques shared in the group sessions. The course teaches practices that are both formal (body scan, breath meditation, mindful movement) and informal (mindful walking, cooking etc). The variety of techniques learnt enables mindful living in day-to-day life, promoting a regular practice which helps continue the benefits of the course long after it has finished. Participants will learn the following: • Lesson 1 - Guidelines for practice, the bodyscan meditation, mindful eating and exploring the mind on autopilot. • Lesson 2 - Exploring perception and how our perceptions colour our everyday life, breath meditation, bringing mindfulness into the day to day. • Lesson 3 - Sitting meditation, noticing the pleasant in our lives, the power of being present in the moment and walking meditation. • Lesson 4 - Exploring stress, unpleasant events and looking for our own triggers. • Lesson 5 - Exploring how we respond to stress and how we might change this. • Lesson 6 - Mindful communication and how to reduce stress in interpersonal relationships. • Lesson 7 - Cultivating kindness and what nourishes us, loving-kindness meditation. • Lesson 8 - How to keep mindfulness alive going forward.
